Catch up

After more than a year I will not go into detail. I'll try to stay with the highlights.
We left Georgia and brought the boat to Norfolk where she spent a wonderful summer - mostly without us.
The intention was to cruise the lower Chesapeake on one week trips. With everything else that went on we only made it to the boat twice. Once for the Tall Ships weekend and the second time for Rebel Marine's Crab Regatta. The tall ships were interesting. The Regatta was a BLAST! Food, Fun & Frolic.

We made the trip South after Tropical Storm Sandy delayed us for almost two weeks - one waiting for it to arrive and the second waiting for the effects to pass. We sailed south and met up with lots of friends - from Cape May sailors to College Classmate to Carole's High School Friend to a friend I met through this Blog to a friend from the launch service to a former client who is a friend and all of our Looper Friends. It was an interesting winter. Not a lot of spectacular happenings, just lots of good times with friends.
We arrived in Marathon on New Years Eve and spent a month and a half there. We started NOrth in February, spent a week in Ft. Myers, crossed the Okeechobee Waterway and headed up the East Coast of Florida arriving in Myrtle Beach in March, where we left Serendipity for a bit. We got to Jersey in time for a snowstorm. Winter in the north SUCKS!
On the drive up to NJ from Myrtle Beach it hit me that I was not happy in the Condo. I am an inveterate Tinkerer and I had no place to mess about in the Condo. We had been planning to redo the Kitchen and designs had been made. Carole gave me two weeks to research and find someplace close by that we both could live with. Carole actually found it. An "Active Adult" community nearby. The house (which needs to be built) has a two car garage, backs up to a piece of preserved woodlands, has room for Carole's Studio. Is only a half block from the community center - with two pools eventually. Lawn work and snow removal is done for us and Carole will have an area for planting flowers.
It took almost two months to put all of the plans together and clean up and decorate the Condo for sale.
We finally headed back to the boat on May 29th and started home on the 31st. We have made it as far as Solomons Island, MD and expect to be back in NJ on the 13th.
Following are a few images from the trip north.

Annie assumes her ever watchful travel position.

Must be a new trick to clean the boat bottom.

This is the pink house in NC. It is a bit removed from it's neighbors. Probably would not fit the community standards. (Click on it to see how pink it is.)

Kite Surfers on Bogue Sound. There were eight of them, but could not get them all in the picture at once.

Some stowaways

Some views of the waterway.

Note the low tide level.

This may be the longest dock we have ever seen.
If you enlarge this you can see that it goes all of the way back to the houses!
Our military passed us on the Chesapeake.
